Pakistan suicide attack leaves 17 dead, several others wounded

A suicide attack involving a car bomb outside a police station in northwest Pakistan has left at least 17 people dead and another 40 wounded.

Nine police officers, four children and four adult civilians were killed in the attack, as the blast demolished the police station and damaged a nearby building in the town of Lakki Marwat.

The bomber reportedly rammed the car into the back of the police station building, and brushed up against a school van just before the explosion.

The explosion follows a string of other deadly attacks in the closing days of Ramadan, the country’s Muslim holy month. In a similar incident, 50 were killed last week in a suicide attack at a Shiite Muslim rally in Quetta, capitalof the southwest province of Baluchistan.
