Guantanamo detainees to get millions
The British Government is set to pay out millions in compenstation to formet detainees held at Guantanamo Bay.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron authorised the negotiations in July after a court ruling ordering the disclosure of confidential documents.
Seven former prisoners are already in line to receive more than £1 million after government agreed to settle a series of High Court actions brought by ex-Guantanamo prisoners and others.
The former detainees had claimed that government knew they were being illegally transferred to Guantanamo Bay but did nothing to stop it. Other allegations include British security and intelligence officials agreed to their torture and abuse while they were held out of the country.
The prisoners do not include only British people, but also asylum seekers.
