On Saturday the last cricket game of the year was played between the Marsa C.C (who are searching for their first win in the competition) and an unbeaten Krishna C.C. team.

The Marsa team batted first with Javed Shah and Malcolm Crabbe  opening the batting. Javed Shah with his normal flamboyant style made twenty one runs before being caught, he scored three fours along the way. Crabbe went on to make twenty four runs in a marathon innings. Tony Azzopardi made thirteen runs while two others made nought.

The Marsa team were in trouble having lost five wickets for sixty six runs. In comes Sam Aquilina who took the challenge to the bowlers and made twenty six runs from sixteen balls, he was supported by Mike Caruana who made ten runs. This gave the Marsa team a bit of hope with the highest total thus far in the tournament, that of 110 runs.  For the Krishna team, Bikram Arora was the main wicket taker with two, while Kevin Krishna, Glen Tavilla and Ronnie Sacco took a wicket each. Behind the stumps John Grima had a good day taking two catches and a stumping.

The Krishna innings began with a blast with Nowell Khosla and Bikram Arora both scoring freely, both going out on thirty one runs. Khosla hit three fours and one of them would compete for the shot of the day. An over pitched ball from Caruana was straight driven along the ground, a pleasure to watch,(not for the bowler).

Arora hit four fours and a six which would make all spectators and players alike envy. Again the bowler was Caruana, Arora stepped inside the line of the ball and hit the ball with such grace, it was pure talent. Sarfraz Ali who had taken the wicket of Khosla took a further two wickets and brought the Marsa team back into the game. Ronnie Sacco was his victim (or more to himself) trying to play a reverse sweep of the very first ball he faced and was caught by Adam Caruana for a golden duck. Glen Tavilla (twenty two runs) and John Grima (nine runs) steadied their team towards victory.

It was Tony Slater with a fantastic flick shot for four which won the game for Krishna. Krishna C.C earned seven points from the game and the Marsa team one point. Krishna now are on top of the Ladder. Not even the inclusion of Ewan Prezens  who played for Sweden against Malta in the recent European championships could save the Marsa team from defeat. He bowled extremely well.
