Qormi man pleads not guilty to defiling 17-year-old boy

The magistrate placed a ban on the publication of the name of the accused and the victim.

A 54-year-old Qormi man pleaded not guilty to charges of defiling a 17-year-old Senegalese boy and holding him against his will. 

The incident allegedly took place in Marsa yesterday. 

The man was arraigned before Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit in proceedings that were held behind closed doors. The magistrate placed a ban on the publication of the name of the accused and the victim.

The man was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €20,000 and a deposit of €300.

Lawyers Jason Azzopardi and Kris Busietta appeared for the accused.
