Cospicua man, 49, remanded on burglary charges

A 49 year-old Cospicua man has been remanded in custody after he was arraigned in connection with a burglary which took place in Mosta last Sunday.

Alfred Attard pleaded not guilty to charges including theft and causing voluntary damage to the property, which belongs to an 81 year-old woman, in Triq il-Mithna l-Qadima.

Police Inspectors Mark Mercieca and Nicholas Vella charged Attard with breaking and entering after he forced open the woman’s front door, as well as  theft, damaging private property, trespassing and handling stolen items.

Attard, who was defended by lawyer Stephanie Abela, pleaded not guilty but did not request bail.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri ordered he be remanded in custody.
