Three Somali men have been remanded in custody after they were arraigned on drug-related charges.

Kheyre Heybe Mohamed, Sakariye Abdirahman Hassan and Abdirahman Aden Mohamud were arraigned separately by inspector Frank Anthony Tabone before duty magistrate Francesco Depasquale this morning.

Mohamed, who appeared much older than his stated 26 years, said he lived in Sliema and that he was unemployed. He pleaded guilty to possession of 3.8g of cannabis and relapsing, confirming his admission when asked again by the court. He will be sentenced on Wednesday.

Hassan, 22, who works as a refuse collector, pleaded not guilty to trafficking and aggravated possession of cannabis, less than 100 meters from a school or club. He was denied bail, after telling the court that he had no fixed address.

Mohamud, also 22, pleaded not guilty to trafficking cannabis resin and cocaine, as well as the aggravated possession of both drugs less than 100 meters from a school or club.

Mohamud, appeared in court wearing a black waistcoat emblazoned with the slogans “whatever” and “Devilslayer” in several places, told the court that he was unemployed and had no fixed address “because the government did not provide him with an address.”

“I have no fixed address because Malta has rejected me,” he repeated, towards the end of his arraignment. “Let us give you a fixed address for now,” replied the court, as it ordered him to also be remanded in custody.
