Dominic Camilleri, a Gozitan paedophile priest who was defrocked by the Vatican in 2013 has not yet been notified of his dismissal by Gozo bishop Mario Grech.

Sources have told MaltaToday that Grech’s inaction could be connected to the shamed priest’s alleged threats to expose other cases of sexual abuse involving Gozitan priests.

Carmelo Pulis, a priest who in 2011 was sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing nine boys in their care at St. Joseph’s Home in Santa Venera, has applied for parole. One of his victims who spoke to the paper questioned whether justice is truly been served.

 Two tumoli of public land on the outskirts of Siggiewi were told to building contractor Carmel Farrugia to serve as an extension to his villa after the intervention of the Lands Department. Tania Micallef, a farmer whose family has tilled the land for decades, said that she only got to know that the land was sold by the government when Farrugia told her to move out.

The government will rent out public land at Cospicua and Zonqor to Sadeen Group, the developers of the ‘American University of Malta’, on the cheap. Combined, the two sites have been handed to Sadeen for an average of €4.88 per square metre.

Joe Gaffarena’s illegally-built petrol station in Qormi was constructed on land that he had purchased had purchased from the father of Richard Cachia Caruana, formerly Malta’s permanent representative to the EU.
