In the Press: Ingrid Zammit Young turns down magisterial nomination

Lawyer Ingrid Zammit Young turned down the post of magistrate, after the Commission for the Administration of Justice raised doubts over her constitutional eligibility for the post. The newspaper adds that her decision “saved the government the embarrassment of a U-turn”.

The Nationalist Party described the judiciary watchdog’s decision in the Zammit Young case as a condemnation of the government and proof that justice minister Owen Bonnici had violated the Constitution.
