No verdict in Mid-Med hold up jury

The verdict in the trial of George Xuereb, accused of taking part in the foiled hold-up on the Mid-Med Bank St Andrew's branch in March 1996 and the attempted murder of two police officers  will not be given today.

After seven hours of deliberation, the jury informed judge Michael Mallia that it was unable to reach a verdict and requested his permission to retire for the day to rest. The judge accepted their request, permitting the deliberation to continue tomorrow morning.

The trial will enter its eighth day tomorrow.
