Malta has registered three new cases of coronavirus overnight, including a 30-year-old Maltese woman who is a healthcare worker.

Public Health Superintendent Charmaine Gauci said all people who may have come in contact with the three people, including people at Mater Dei Hospital in the case of the woman, are being tested and placed in quarantine.

Gauci said the three cases were imported and no local transmissions have been recorded.

The 30-year-old Maltese woman travelled to Brussels between 5 March and 9 March. She returned to work on 10 March and developed symptoms on 11 March.

The second case involves a 45-year-old Maltese man who travelled to Munich in Germany between 6 March and 7 March. The man, who works as a self-employed developed a cough and fever on 11 March and contacted the authorities yesterday. Gauci said the man's three family members are in quarantine and being tested and there was no significant contact with third parties.

The third case is of an Italian 40-year-old man, who travelled to Paris in France between 29 February and 6 March. He developed symptoms on 10 March. The man works online and only had casual contact with two people, who are being tested.

Gauci said the authorities were following international developments when asked whether all flights to Malta should be stopped.

All people diagnosed with Covid-19 so far are in good health with one woman now testing negative to the virus and being placed in quarantine at home.
