Star dies, hunt for animal abuser goes on

Star, whose story made the news around the world, died an hour ago. Mario Spiteri, Director of the Animal Welfare Department, confirmed the news and said the dog had not been eating and couldn’t keep her food down.

“Yesterday, early in the afternoon they had to operate her and found some complications,” he said.

Spiteri added that even though the dog looked like she was recovering and was doing well, the trauma and stress she passed through had their toll.

“All we hope now is for the person who hurt Star to be found,” he said.
