Government unwilling to address technical personnel shortage in Gozo hospital
Doctors in Gozo’s general hospital are forced to perform ECGs at night instead of properly qualified technicians.
Weekly newspaper Illum reports that despite how government has known of the lack of technicians during certain hours for several months, the situation however remains unsolved.
The reports adds that for some reason, government has also been obstructing the employment of additional technicians to make good for the staff shortfall.
The Health Ministry and Gozo Ministry both confirmed the state of affairs, yet neither of them are willing to accept responsibility should a patient die as a result of the impasse, the report adds.
