During a political activity held this afternoon at Salini Park in Qawra, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi launched the Nationalist Party’s new website mychoice.pn.

“This website will serve as another instrument for the PN to listen to the people using online communication. Everyone will be given the opportunity to voice their suggestions and be closer to the party,” Gonzi said.

Gonzi said that any ideas submitted through the website will be seen by a team dedicated to going through all the ideas and passing them to him personally.

“Whatever I agree with will be put into action. I have a great thirst for new ideas and although I have plenty of my own, this will allow people to be heard,” Gonzi said.

Making reference to the situation Malta 20 years ago, Gonzi said that it was the PN was the party to introduce technology to Malta.

"The PN opened Malta to the world and fought for the country into the EU. We did this because we believed that Malta may have nothing more than other countries but definitely has nothing less and has the ability to compete on an international level,” Gonzi said.

The prime minister said that people had a choice to make and could no longer remain observers and this initiative was targeted toward people of all ages.

“The choice is yours to make. Just being an observer could result in missing great opportunities. Over this legislation, I received so many emails which had proposals which made a great difference to the work we have done,” Gonzi said.

Gonzi said that the website can be accessed anywhere where Wi-Fi is available and took the opportunity to mock the Labour Party’s suggestions to introduce Wi-fi in public spaces since it has already been done.

During a Q&A session with the public, a member of the audience asked about the depleting interest in politics among Maltese youths.

“Some people think we have everything now and there is nothing left to be done. I disagree. We have only just begun and this website will allow all ages to become more involved. There is still plenty to be done to give youths a chance to fulfil their ambitions,” Gonzi replied.

He also paid tribute to the late Peter Serracino Inglott and said that if he was still alive, “he would say that the PN’s biggest ambition would be to become an open-source party”.

“I am always surprised by this country. Despite our size and few resources, the intellectual capacity is incredible and our youths excel abroad,” Gonzi said.

Gonzi said that it was good that the country was making bigger achievements. “But it is now time to help people with their everyday troubles. We guarantee to read and listen to all the suggestions and take the responsible decision on whether it should be implemented or not.”
