Record participation at President's Charity Fun Run
Up to 13,000 persons join President George Abela in charity fun run in aid of L-Istrina.
The annual President's charity fun run, in aid of L-Istrina has attracted a record participation of over 13,000 people.
The event, in its the fourth edition, collects donations of €10 from each participant in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The event started on Sunday morning shortly before 10:30am from San Anton Palace, to The Palace, in Valletta.
Thousands joined President Abela at San Anton, while others preferred to join in the President's walk with Abela's wife from Santa Venera.
The two colourful groups are set to meet in Floriana to head down Republic Street towards St George's Square together.
President Abela described today's event as a feast of national unity and generosity. He expressed his joy that thousands of people were united for such a good cause.
Among those taking part include are Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and his wife Kate, the Opposition leader Joseph Muscat and his wife Michelle and a number of MPs and other personalities.
