MEPA approves development of small marina at Valletta Waterfront
Project consists in the adaptation of Valletta waterfront lagoon for the berthing of 37 vessels and the construction of sanitary facilities and office.
The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) Board today approved the planning application for the development of a small marina with the lagoon area of the Valletta Waterfront.
The project consists in the adaptation of the lagoon for the berthing of 37 vessels varying in length from 8 to 15 metres. The berths which will be installed on the harbour side of the lagoon, overlooking Pinto stores, will be set against a floating pontoon adjacent to the existing quay. The project also includes the construction of sanitary facilities and an office.
Although the Mepa Board agreed to this project which is within the confines of the Valletta Waterfront project, the Board warned the applicant that unless within the coming six months, the applicant doesn't regularize its position pertaining to the illegality in having installed service provider booths and awnings along the promenade, the Authority will follow up the case and carry out direct action.
The Board also approved an outline permission for the development of a warehousing complex in a designated Area of Containment in Mosta. The complex will incorporate 15 separate warehouses, a reception and canteen area, administration offices and underground car parking facilities.
