Former PL deputy leader for party affairs Charles Mangion is the new chairman of Enemalta, this newspaper has learnt.

MaltaToday can also reveal that Joe Ellul Vincenti, a former Enemalta chairman under the Eddie Fenech Adami administration, is the new deputy chairman.

Other board members include Joe Falzon, head of the Department of Banking and Finance at the University of Malta, Steve Agius, Tony Chircop, Jonathan Scerri and Lara Boffa.

The latter, niece of former Labour leader Pawlu Boffa, was one of the speakers at the Labour Party's national conference that launched its manifesto earlier in January

Ellul Vincenti, an architect and a chartered electrical engineer from Faraday Engineering College London, served as Enemalta chairman in the early nineties during a Nationalist administration.

During the 2013 election campaign, he dismissed claims that Labour's proposed gas plant at Delimara may not be built on reclaimed land. Addressing a Labour party activity at Ta' Giorni, Ellul Vincenti dismissed the PN's claims that the Delimara jetty was not designed to sustain the weight of a gas plant.

MaltaToday understands that Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi will be retaining Louis Giordimaina as CEO of the corporation. During a recent press coverage, Mizzi had praised Giordimaina for his work done at the helm of the state energy company.
