Ceiling collapses at San Gwann local council offices
San Gwann mayor says no one was injured.
Fortunately no one was injured when the ceiling of a room at the San Gwann local council offices collapsed.
Posting on Facebook, San Gwann mayor Etienne Bonello Dupuis said the room, used for IT lessons and public meetings, was empty at the time of the incident.
Computer monitors and desks were damaged in the incident.
The local council is currently in the phase of approving the building of a new council office in Karen Grech Garden.
Last week the mayor had a meeting with Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi about the project.
"The minister said the new council building will go ahead, albeit with some changes from the last plans," Bonello Depuis said.
"At an extraordinary council meeting last Friday, the new project was approved in principle by the council. I hope that the new project will go ahead at the earliest to ensure uninterrupted service to the community."
