[WATCH] Santas brave cold water in aid of l-Istrina

The cold wind and grey skies did not stop a group of swimmers - including two Labradors - from jumping into the sea in aid of l-Istrina under the patronage of President George Abela.

So one after the other, Christmas hat and all, the swimmers closed their eyes and jumped into the water amid shouts and laughs.

Participants described the sea as being "warmer" than the air... the biggest challenge always the moment before they jump into the water.

The charity event was held at the Excelsior Hotel Floriana and included the participation of the Malta Police band who entertained the crowd with live Christmas carols and music.
