No confirmation yet on Labour's head of European delegation candidature
Labour approves two new candidates for European elections, however party’s head of delegation is yet to be approved.
Former One TV journalist Charlon Gouder and current MEP Merlene Mizzi were yesterday approved by the Labour Party's executive as candidates for the European elections to be held in May.
However, Labour's current head of delegation in Brussels, Joseph Cuschieri, has not been approved to stand for re-election yet. Cuschieri was elected as an MEP after giving up his seat in the Maltese parliament to accommodate party leader Joseph Muscat when the current Prime Minister took over the party's leadership in 2008.
Gouder, 31, currently serves as the private secretary to parliamentary secretary for culture José Herrera and presents Breakfast news on ONE, the PL's media.
Gouder and Mizzi join former Prime Minister Alfred Sant, MP Deborah Schembri, OPM official Mario Farrugia Borg, architects Lino Bianco and Clint Camilleri, former CPD director Peter Cordina, former One journalist Miriam Dalli, gay activist Cyrus Engerer, University lecturer Ivan Grixti and Fleur Vella.
Labour said it would announce its final list in the coming weeks.
