Another Enemalta employee suspended in electricty theft case
The total number of Enemalta employees to have been suspended has now reached nine.
A ninth Enemalta employee has been suspended on suspicion of having tampered with the smart meters.
Another Enemalta employee has been suspended by the corportaion as the investigation over the theft of electricty continues to gather pace.
The employee, who has not been named, is being investigated by both the police and the company in connection with the tampering of smart meters.
During the past weeks, it transpired that around 1,000 smart meters had been tampered with, resulting in a loss of €30 million theft from the corporation.
The total number of suspended employees has now reached nine.
Thus far, three persons have been arraigned in court with one facing a prison sentence of two years after pleading guilty.
Enemalta, in a statement issued by the corproration this afternoon, reiterated its commitment to find pursue the case.
