Greek President on state visit to Malta

Greek delegation on a state visit to Malta on Thursday and Friday.

Greek President Karolos Papoulias will be heading a delegation to Malta on Thursday and Friday, the Maltese government announced.

On his state visit, Papoulias will be accompanied by maritime affairs minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis and deputy minister for foreign affairs Kyriakos Gerontopoulos.

The Greek President will be holding talks with President of the Republic George Abela, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Speaker Anglu Farrugia and Leader of the Opposition Simon Busuttil.

Papoulias will also be given a tour of a number of places of general interest.

He was first elected President of the Hellenic Republic in 2005 and re-elected in 2010. Between 1985 and 1989 and 1993 and 1996, he served as minister for foreign affairs.
