AD calls for job security for ex-Arriva workers
Ex-Arriva employees, now Transport Malta employees, find themselves in a precarious situation

Alternattiva Demokratika called for a solution to what it describes as the precarious employment situation of ex-Arriva employees.
"It is good to note that the government has announced that two contractors had been blacklisted for two years after having been found guilty of offering jobs with substandard conditions," said Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola. "But what is the government doing in relation to its own parastatal employees?"
Following Arriva's pullout from Malta, employees were absorbed into the Transport Malta ranks but have been offered little job security from TM.
"Ex-Arriva employees, now Transport Malta employees, have no proper contract. They are paid by the hour and have no fixed basic salary. What is more precarious than this? We expect the government to lead by example and ensure that ex Arriva workers no longer work in precarious conditions," Cassola said.
