In an effort to afford energy consumers a greater facility to compare the reduction in water and electricity tariffs, energy minister Konrad Mizzi today launched an online calculator and a mobile app – a facility which is set to give consumers the ability to calculate the savings made.

Earmarked for a €30 million injection into the economy, the reduction in water and electricity bills will see both residential and domestic household accounts enjoy a 25% reduction in electricity tariffs and a 5% reduction in water tariffs.

Mizzi explained that the online calculator and mobile app would allow consumers to calculate their energy and water consumption based on the new rates that were introduced on Monday.

The energy minister has also explained that consumers may receive bills that include cross over rates: rates covering the period both before and after the reduction of energy tariffs.

The online calculator can either be accessed on www.energy.gov.mt while the mobile app, “Bill Savings”, from smartphones operating on an Android Operating Systems or iOS. The app can also be downloaded from the Ministry for Energy and Health website.
