Malta’s ‘no specific commitment’ to anti-Islamic State coalition

62 partners join the United States in a coalition against ISIL

Malta is among the 62 countries that have joined the United States-led coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), according to a list published by the State Department on Thursday.

20 of the countries, including the European Union and the Arab League, are providing air support or other military equipment. Other countries will be supplying logistical or humanitarian aid.

In the case of Malta, together with other 12 partners including Portugal, Tunisia and Ukraine, the commitment is “not specific”.

The list of participating countries was released by the State Department. No official communication by the government on the matter has been released so far.
