Malta, Israel to cooperate on environmental issues
Environment Minister Leo Brincat signs an agreement with his Israeli counterpart over environmental cooperation between Malta and Israel.
Environment Minister Leo Brincat signed an agreement with his Israeli counterpart Amir Peretz relating to cooperation between Malta and Israel in a number of environmental sectors.
These sectors include air quality, afforestation, greenery, sustainable development, waste management, noise pollution, climate change and the maritime environment, a government statement said.
The agreement was signed in Jerusalem, Israel. During his visit, Brincat met up with experts in the waste management sector and visited the KKL Landfill Restoration Project in Hiriya, Tel Aviv, the Israeli government’s Environmental Services Company in the Eco-Industrial Part in Negev, and the Ariel Sharon Park that is expected to become one of the largest parks in the world by 2020.
Brincat was also invited by the Speaker of Knesset to attend a plenary meeting of the Israeli Parliament.
