Imprisoned for two and half years for threatening woman in her residence
Somali imprisoned for stealing €2 and threatening woman in her residence.
A Somali resident at the Hal Far open centre, Awaale Ahmed Fathihi, 28, was sentenced to two and a half years’ imprisonment for threatening Amanda Portelli with a knife and stealing €2 from her residence in Birzebbugia.
The incident happened on 5 January at 10:15pm.
Fathihi pleaded guilty to charges of robbery aggravated by violence, of having kept Portelli against her will and threatening her with her life. He was also charged with illegal possession of a knife or such pointed instrument.
Inspector Keith Arnaud and Inspector Priscilla Caruana led the prosecution. Magistrate Audrey Demicoli presided.
