Enemalta’s rescue team conducts an abseiling training exercise

Enemalta’s rescue team conducted abseiling training exercise simulations through which it recreated rescue operations in high locations where abseiling techniques were applied.

In a statement, Enemalta said that in line with Enemalta Corporation’s commitment towards its Human Resources’ health and safety, the Corporation’s Rescue personnel recently participated in a training simulation, through which there was a the recreation of a rescue operation involving heights, where abseiling techniques where practiced.

The personnel from Enemalta’s own Fire & Rescue section routinely do such exercises, in view of their role of being the first responders in case Enemalta’s own employees are trapped or need assistance.

Raymond Cremona, Chief Corporate Services, said that Enemalta’s personnel routinely enter in restricted and confined spaces as part of their daily work and as such our rescue personnel need to be ready to extract casualties and employees out of such difficult areas in case an emergency arises.

Enemalta’s own fire & rescue section was set up 16 years ago, is equipped with the latest firefighting technology including a fire engine, rescue vehicle and 2 ambulances which are permanently stationed at the Delimara and Marsa power stations.

The team includes 9 fully qualified fire fighters who are led by their respective team leader.

This training is part of Enemalta’s commitment towards the continuous investment in its staff, which also led to the Corporation being awarded an FHRD award for learning and development last year, the corporation added.
