Liege Attack: Police find body of dead woman and seek motive
Police in Belgium discover a woman's body at the home of a gunman involved in Tuesday’s attack and trying to establish motivation behind deadly assault.
The body was found in a shed at Nordine Amrani's property. Amrani launched an attack with guns and hand grenades in a busy square in Liege on Tuesday, causing panic among Christmas shoppers.
Four persons, including Armani were killed and nearly 125 people were wounded, some critically.
Belgian media reports say the body found at Armani's house was that of a 45 year-old cleaner, who worked for one of Amrani's neighbours.
"It was found in a shed which he used, notably to grow cannabis," Liege's prosecutor general, Cedric Visart de Bocarme, said.
The authorities are trying to establish what motivated Amrani to go on his killing spree.
Police have said he was known to them for previous drugs and firearms offences and acted alone in the attack.
A 17-month-old girl became the fourth victim late on Tuesday, dying in hospital despite undergoing hours of emergency treatment and four other persons remained in a critical condition.
Police officials have ruled out organised political terrorism or mental illness as Amrani's motives but have yet to determine why he carried out the ferocious attack. .
