Court proceedings resume against former Egyptian leader
Former president of Egypt Hosni Mubarak is taken to court on a hospital gurney as proceedings resume after three-month interval.
After a three-month interval, cast-out Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak returned to a courtroom in Cairo on Wednesday after being charged with involvement in the deaths of roughly 840 protesters during the attack against the people’s revolt.
Mubarak was forced to step down on 11 February 2011 and could face the death penalty if convicted.
However, the 83-year-old former president currently appears clear from any orders made to shoot protesters according to testimonies presented.
Mubarak has been under hospital arrest since April and was taken to court on a hospital gurney.
Mubarak and his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, also face charges of corruption while Interior Minister Habib el-Adly also faces the same charges as Mubarak along with six senior former security officials allegedly involved in the killings of protesters.
