EBF are back…as promised

“We would definitely come back to Malta and soon we hope!” That was a declaration Spencer Brown, Chairman of the European Boxing Federation, made immediately the first EBF event was over and done with at the end of January.

In fact another Night of Boxing is planned for Saturday 21st April.   This was confirmed by local promoter Paul Borg who is again joining force with the EBF to organise one more exciting activity where the main protagonist will once again be ‘the hit man’ – Malta’s Billy Corito.

“We will improve his level of opponent in each future fight so he will need to improve accordingly”, was another of Mr. Brown’s statements after the January event.

And so the next EBF nominated challenger to face Billy Corito will be Davey ‘Boy’ Clarke, whose EBF association records 27 fights where he enjoys 20 wins, 1 draw with his losses have only come against top level opponents, the like of Mark Potter, Chris Bacon and John Lewis.

It is recognized that Davey ‘Boy’ Clarke experience outweighs the majority of the other EBF Heavyweight/Super Heavyweights. He is a dangerous composed fighter with knowledge of boxing most men could only wish for. Undoubtedly building such a sturdy character is ever so natural when his boxing career included fights against former World Champion Enzo Macrenelli and former British Champion Matt Skelton.

Billy Corito crowned his January EBF baptism of fire by securing the Intercontinental Champion title belt, a title he will be defending against Davey ‘Boy’ Clarke in the April fight. Corito’s record now stands at winning eight fights in a row. On seven of these he knocked out his opponents, six of whom in the second round and one in the first round.

Further to the Corito-Clarke showdown the Big Night of Boxing of April 21st, which will be again held at the Sky Club, Paceville, will also present six other local boxers challenge six EBF members.

The European Boxing Federation is Great Britain's and Europe's largest Semi-pro and white collar boxing authority. “Our outstanding working relationship with this authoritative entity is giving an upward thrust to boxing in Malta in general and to our boxers in particular.  In fact further to the Corito-Clarke title encounter two of the other six fights will be contested to decide Black Belt titles in their respective categories”, declared local promoter Paul Borg. The names of all participating boxers are to be announced next week.

The main sponsors of the April Night of Boxing are RE/MAX Alliance Tigne and The Party Bus Malta.
