Valletta - Mosta 2-1

Valletta started off their new campaign with a 2-1 victory over Mosta.

Valletta managed to take the lead on the 32nd minute when off a cross by Nyang, Denni Rocha Dos Santos easily flicked the ball in goal past goalkeeper Omar Borg.

Just before the first half ended, Valletta's Edmond Agius was sent off after he brought Joel Sunny Boy Toe just outside the area.

In the second half even though Valletta were one man down, they managed to double their lead on the 50th minute. Yessous Camilleri had his shot blocked by goalkeeper Omar Borg, but off the rebound Camilleri made no mistake to find the back of the net.

Mosta managed to reduce the score line on the 81st minute when James Brincat beat goalkeeper Pietro Demetriio Marino from close range.

Naxxar Lions - Floriana 1-1

Floriana and newly promoted side Naxxar Lions shared the spoils when they played to a 1-1 draw.

Naxxar managed to take the lead on the 75th minute. A shot by Marlon Briffa was deflected by Terence Scerri to end up past goalkeeper Daniel Hanford.

Floriana did not take long to equalise as just four minutes later Gary Muir beat goalkeeper Julian Azzopardi.

Tarxien Rainbows - Hibernians

Hibernians managed to defeat Tarxien 1-0 to win the derby.

With both teams wasting a number of chances the first half ended 0-0.

The match was made more difficult for Tarxien in the second half when Marko Potezica was sent off and the end of the first half after he received his second yellow card.

Hibernians managed to score the winning goal in added time. Off a corner by Clayton Failla, Edison Luis dos Santos headed the ball past goalkeeper Nicholas George Vella to give Hibernians the victory.

Sliema Wanderers - Qormi 4-0

Sliema Wanderers had no problem collecting all three ppoints in their first match of the season after they defeated Qormi 4-0.

Sliema had to wait till the 33rd minute before they scored their first goal of the match. Off a corner by Matius Muchardi, Stefano Bianciardi headed the ball in the direction of Stanlry Ohawuchi who headed the ball past goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia.

Sliema doubled their lead on the 49th minute. John Mintoff served Stanley Ohawuchi who then went on to beat the Qormi goalkeeper with his shot.

On the 76th minute, Andrea Navarra scored made it 3-0 after he was served by Stanley Ohawuchi.

On the 86th minute, Navarra scored his second of the match. Off a corner by Matias Muchardi, Navarra headed the ball in goal to make the final score 4-0.
