75th National Chess Finals - Decider between C. Pace and J. Gauci

A deciding match will determine the winner of this year's 75th National Chess Finals. NM Colin Pace, the current title holder, and NM Joseph Gauci were tied at the top of the table with seven points after ten grueling rounds played in a span of two weeks.

Gauci was one point clear in round eight however he could not capitalize on this advantage and drew his last two games to give Pace the chance to retain the title for a third consecutive time.

The match will be played at the Chess Academy rooms of St Benedict College, care-of Boys Secondary school Kirkop and will consist of two classical games to be played on December 8 and 13.

If the match is still unresolved the title will be decided on the eighteenth (18th) at the same venue when the contenders will play two rapid games (25m+10s) and, if required, two Blitz games (3m+2s) followed by an Armageddon where white has five minutes on the clock to black's six with no increment.

Gauci will be white for game 1.
