The unidentified poacher [pictured] was filmed shooting at a protected hoopoe at Girgenti
A poacher was filmed taking two shots at a protected hoopoe on Saturday evening, the Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) said.
The poacher was filmed at Girgenti, below the Laferla Cross, at around 6pm, CABS said.
“The incident is not only an offence as is was directed at protected species but also a day ahead of the spring hunting season for Turtle Dove and Quail which starts tomorrow.”
Both police and CABS are appealing for information regarding the identity of the shooter.
