Franco Debono mum over Castille meeting

Earlier this afternoon, Nationalist backbencher Franco Debono met with Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi at the Office of the Prime Minister, MaltaToday is informed.

The meeting took place at Castille. Also present for the meeting was Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg. MaltaToday is informed that the meeting was cordial but brief.

Asked to comment, Debono would neither confirm nor deny the meeting took place, but simply said "no comment".

Castille's meeting comes just a day before the debate on the no-confidence motion starts. So far, Debono has refused to budge on his original position which stated that he would support a vote of no-confidence against his government.

The no-confidence vote is expected to take place next Thursday at noon.
