Gale-force winds expected over the weekend

Waves could reach a maximum of eight metres as Force 8 to 9 winds hit Malta.

Strong winds and high waves are expected over the next few days.

Gale-force winds are expected to hit the Maltese Islands over the coming days as temperatures could drop to as low as 4 °C, according to MaltaWeatherSite.com.

The next few days will see Force 7 winds increasing to Force 8 to 9 whilst waves could reach an extraordinary maximum height of eight metres.

Rain showers, thunder, and a possibility of hail, are expected from midnight on Friday until 9am on Saturday.

The areas expected to be worst affected are Cirkewwa, Paradise Bay, Golden Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha Bay and Gnejna Bay along the westcoast of Malta and Dwejra and Marsalforn in Gozo, due to their north-westerly position.
