94% of referendum voting documents collected by deadline
Over 10,000 people personally collect referendum votes since Saturday. 16.8% of local council election votes uncollected.

93.8% of the voting documents for the spring hunting referendum were collected as of yesterday's deadline. 20,937 votes remained uncollected, equating to 6.2% of the electorate.
These final figures show that over 10,000 people have personally collected their votes since Saturday, when the uncollected vote count stood at 31,647.
The uncollected vote percentage is only slightly higher than that of the previous referendum- the divorce referendum- where 20,700 voting documents (6% of the electorate) had remained uncollected by voting day. In total, 72% of the electorate turned out to vote that day.
The highest amount of uncollected votes was registered in the 12th district (Mellieha, St Paul’s Bay, Naxxar, Bahar ic-Cachaq, Burmarrard) where 3,433 votes remained uncollected by yesterday’s deadline. This was followed by the 1st district (Valletta, Floriana, Hamrun, Pieta, Santa Venera, parts of Marsa) with 2,012 uncollected votes and the 9th district (Msida, San Gwann, Swieqi, Gharghur, Ta’ Xbiex) with 1,932 uncollected votes.
16.2% of local council election votes uncollected
Public interest in the referendum appears to be significantly higher than its interest in the local council elections, with 32,492 local council voting documents remaining uncollected by voting day, amounting to 16.2% of the electorate.
Despite being one of the main battlegrounds in this round of local council elections, St. Paul’s Bay registered the highest number of uncollected votes at 3,433. Uncollected votes were also high in St. Julian’s (4,594), Swieqi (3,144) and Gzira (2,585), three localities that are traditionally PN-leaning.
