No Maltese among injured in Strasbourg shooting, Foreign Ministry says

No Maltese were among the victims of Tuesday’s attack in the French city of Strasbourg, the Foreign Ministry has said.

The incident left three people dead and 12 injured after a shooter opened fire on the crowd at Strasbourg’s famed Christmas market.

The Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that there were no reports of any Maltese among the victims or injured in the attack.

“The ministry is closely following the incident and is in constant contact and coordination with Malta’s Embassy in Paris, the Permanent Representation of Malta to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg as well as with the French authorities,” the ministry said.

It advised all Maltese currently in Strasbourg to follow local authorities’ instructions.

The Maltese embassy in Paris and the Permanent Representation of Malta to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg are ready to offer any help to Maltese nationals, the ministry statement added.
