Accused of attacking warden
Marius Camilleri, 50, from Qormi was charged before Magistrate Giovanni Grixti that on 23 February 2011, he attacked a local warden.
Camilleri is accused of causing slight injuries to the warden, breaking his sunglasses, threatening him as well as disturbing the public peace, and of committing a further crime during the term of a suspended sentence.
Inspector Sandra Zammit, leading the prosecution said that many attempts to trace the accused proved futile after refused to answer his mobile phone and he could not be found at his home in Qormi.
The accused was eventually found in a garage in Qormi. She also pointed out that this is not the first time that Camilleri was accused with attacking police or public officers..
Camilleri pleaded not guilty to the charges. Was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000.
