Cameron, Obama to meet in Canada

British Premier Davis Cameron will be meeting US President Barack Obama later today in face-to-face talks at the fringes of the of the G8 and G20 summits in Canada.

Talks between the two sides will be dominated by the BP oil spill, Afghanistan and the global economy, among other things.

Cameron has already told journalists there that he wanted to see British troops out of Afghanistan within five years.

They may also discuss British spending, amid the US President’s concerns that cuts in Europe might delay the global recovery.

President Obama had warned G20 leaders not to withdraw economic stimulus packages too early.

But yesterday the British Premier insisted there was "no difference" between the US and the UK on plans for quick government spending cuts.

Cameron said the US accepted that those with the biggest deficits had to "accelerate the process of dealing with them".
