A total of 196 speakers over a period of six days will address the 69th United National General Assembly session in New York.

Starting on Wednesday, the Security Council summit was chaired by United States President Barack Obama, whose country holds the body's presidency for the month.

Tomorrow, during a session convened by secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon, the UN will call for a more robust international response to Ebola crisis in West Africa.

Like every years, bilateral meetings are also held on the sidelines of the general debate.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat is expected to address the session on Friday. Muscat is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister George Vella who together are holding a number of bilateral meetings in preparation for the forthcoming Commonwealth summit which will be held in Malta.
