Mobile phone thief pleads guilty

He was handed a suspended sentence after admitting to the charges against him

A mobile phone thief has been given a suspended sentence after admitting to the charges against him.

Marsascala resident Ali Alatebi, 23, from Iraq appeared before magistrate Rachel Montebello this morning, charged with the theft of a mobile phone worth €190 from another man in Birzebbuga on 1 October.

The accused pleaded guilty as charged.

In view of his admission, the court handed him a one-month prison sentence, suspended for a year and explained the effects of this sentence to him.
