Woman grievously injured in Birkirkara bypass accident

A 22-year-old woman has been grievously injured in a traffic accident on the Birkirkara bypass.

The police said in a statement that the accident occurred at 9am on Monday morning on Triq Dun Karm Psaila when the woman, an Italian national who lives in Iklin, was hit by a Hyundai Getz driven by a 21-year-old male Birkirkara resident.

An ambulance was called to the scene and took the woman to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

She was certified as having suffered grievous injuries, the police said.
