Decent jobs needed, says left-wing think tank Żminijietna
Think tank Żminijietna says working class requires decent jobs, universal public services and policies for equality Day.
Think tank Żminijietna has endorse the recent call of the General Workers' Union for clear legislation against precarious jobs and for decent jobs with dignity.
"All public service contracts, both governmental and local, should be in line with such a social charter, and employers with negative track records, also including discrimination against minorities, should be blacklisted.
"Żminijietna maintains its position for universal public services and progressive income tax and against neo-liberal policies, such as privatisation, which are dismantling the welfare state. The State should also ensure that job creation is sustainable, for example through green jobs in areas such as energy and through polices which favour workers' cooperatives".
Żminijietna said the government should introduce legislation for an increase in the minimum wage. "This would improve the quality of life of low-income earners, and would encourage more people to seek employment. Family-friendly measures such as universal and free childcare centers should be immediately introduced."
