A jobless worker is the greatest of contradictions – PN

The Nationalist Party underlines its commitment to fight precarious jobs in Workers’ Day statement.

The Nationalist Party reiterated its commitment to fight against precarious work and urged government and employers to fight abuses at the workplace.

In a statement issued to mark Workers' Day, the Nationalist Party expressed its hope that the Maltese economy maintains its solidity and that more jobs are created in the years to come.

The PN paid tribute to Maltese workers and thanked them for their "diligence, hard work and prudence," which it said were the cornerstones of the country's success in maintaining low unemployment.

"The PN expresses its solidarity with workers and families which are jobless - a jobless worker is the greatest of contradictions - and calls on the government to take sensible decisions, and not populist ones, to strengthen the economy and create more jobs."

On the ninth anniversary of EU membership, the party also stressed the importance of EU accession, "which brought more opportunities and rights for Maltese and Gozitan workers."

The PN underlined its pride in playing a major role in attracting investment and job creation in niches such as tourism, aviation, financial services, manufacturing, technology and maritime sector.
