New Mater Dei chief executive

The Ministry of Health has announced the appointment of engineer Joseph Caruana as Chief Executive Officer of Mater Dei Hospital with effect from the 9 May 2011. 

The Ministry thanked Ms Marion Rizzo for her dedication and commitment upon completion of her term as CEO.

In another statement, the ministry said there was an increase in surgical operations in January 2011, up by 443 over January 2010 to reach 3,645.

This means an increase of 15 operations daily, 84% of which were planned operations.
