In the Press: ODZ status of university site makes project viable

Stories from today's national press

The Times of Malta

The fact that the site for the proposed American university in Malta is ODZ is what makes the project financially viable, as land earmarked for development would be too expensive. At the heart of the 90,000 square metres of public land lie about 10,000 square metres of privately owned land, for which the government is in negotiations with the owners.

In-Nazzjon

In what this newspaper calls a desperate attempt to sell off Air Malta assets, In-Nazzjon reports that the Selmun Palace property has been devalued by the government to only €5.2 million.

L-Orizzont

Minister for justice and culture Owen Bonnici announced that some 15 historical artefacts will be on loan to an exhibition in Malta marking the 450th anniversary of the Great Siege. No word however on whether the sword and dagger belonging to La Valletta is included.

The Malta Independent

In response to questions about the role of De Paul University in the new American university in Malta, which will only be drawing up the curriculum for courses, PM Joseph Muscat said that the project is very real, though he declined to divulge who will be running it.
