TVM retains audience pole position
Television Malta retained its lead position as the most popular and widely-followed, with One TV taking second place and Net TV coming in third.
According to the latest media survey published by MediaWarehouse published in October, TVM is followed by 57.3 per cent of the Maltese audience. One TV is followed by 31 per cent of the local audience, while Net TV managed to attract 9.8 per cent.
In a statement, The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) highlighted how TV enjoyed the largest audience at all times – mornings, afternoons, and evenings. During peak hours (between 7 pm and midnight), TVM attracted 62 per cent of local audiences, over double the audience enjoyed by its runner up.
PBS added that the survey also found that Radju Malta increased its audience and is the second-most followed radio station with 14.7 per cent – only 2 per cent less than One Radio, currently in the lead. PBS said that Radju Malta is the most widely-followed station between 6 am and mid-day.
The TVM news had a maximum audience of 141,000 viewers, while the highest audience enjoyed by One TV news was of 63,000. PBS added that as soon as TVM news starts, One TV’s audience drops to an average of 52,000 while that of Net TV stands only at 12,000.
PBS also said that Xarabank remains the most popular programme among those broadcast locally, including programmes on foreign stations. According to the survey, PBS said that Xarabank kicks off with an audience of over 161,000 and retains an audience of over 110,00 until past 10:30pm.
Other well-followed programmes with audiences of over 100,000 include Salib it-Toroq, Deceduti, KC, 7 qattiela, and Bondi Plus.
