Updated | 23-year-old woman dies in road accident

A road accident on the hill next to Addolorata Cemetery claimed the life of a 23-year-old German woman on Saturday night, the police said.

The  woman was riding pillion when the male rider lost control of his Yamaha motorcycle and skidded. The woman was then run over by a truck driving in the same direction.

The police said the motorbike driver was uninjured in the accident but the woman died on the spot.

The road was closed to traffic as police investigated the circumstances of the accident. Duty Magistrate Aaron Bugeja is leading an inquiry.
