17 killed in Iran military base explosion

Officials said that a huge explosion at a military arms depot near the capital of Tehran in Iran killed 17 revolutionary guards and wounded 15.

The explosion was reportedly an accident which took place as troops moved munitions at a Bidganeh base some 45km west of Tehran.

The blast radius shook homes for miles around increasing international tension over Iran’s nuclear programme.

Streets surrounding the depot were closed as a fire resulting from the explosion raged on at the base.
