Pakistan plane lands in Sweden because of bomb threat
A plane en route to Pakistan has landed in Stockholm because of a bomb threat, Swedish authorities say.
A spokesman at Arlanda airport said the Boeing 777 plane was carrying 273 people from Toronto in Canada and was bound for Karachi.
Stockholm police said Canadian authorities had received a tip-off from a woman in Canada that a passenger was carrying explosives.
They said they were trying to make contact with the man. Explosives experts were reported to be on hand. The pilot was said to have requested permission to land at Arlanda. The plane is now parked on a ramp at the end of the landing strip, away from the terminals.
Reports from Pakistan identified the plane involved as Pakistan International Airlines flight PK782 travelling from Calgary via Toronto.
243 passengers were said to be on the flight.
"All the passengers are still on board, sitting calmly," Janne Hedlund of Stockholm district police told Reuters news agency.
He added that everyone on the plane had passed through security checks in Canada.
